Project Overview

  • Objective:

To design a visually compelling infographic that effectively communicates the process of initiating a COIL experience at Durham College.

  • Target Audience:

Students, faculty, and staff at Durham College who are interested in collaborative online international learning opportunities.

  • Deliverables:

    A responsive web-based infographic and a print-based infographic sized 18” x 24” in portrait orientation.

Design Process

  1. Research and Analysis:

Conducted research on COIL programs and their benefits. Analyzed existing infographics for design inspiration and effectiveness.

  2. Content Development:

Gathered and organized all necessary text from the provided .docx file. Identified key points to highlight in the infographic to ensure clarity and engagement.

  3. Visual Design:

Created initial sketches and wireframes for both web and print formats. Developed a color palette using only the spot colors provided in the .ai file, avoiding black. Selected Open Sans as the primary font for consistency and readability.

  4. Digital Design:

Designed the web-based infographic with responsive features, including slideshow/carousel functionality and simple fade-in animations for visual interest. Designed the print-based infographic, ensuring all elements fit within the specified dimensions and orientation.

  5. Feedback and Iteration:

Presented initial designs to peers and faculty for feedback. Made necessary adjustments based on feedback to enhance clarity and visual appeal.

  6. Finalization:

Finalized both the web and print designs, ensuring all text and visual elements were correctly implemented. Conducted a final review to ensure adherence to project requirements and quality standards.
